HISTORY

1995 - 1996
Zaimella was incorporated by public deed in Quito on August 4th, 1995. It began operating in 1996 in an area of 16,146 square feet of structures with its first production line of disposable baby diapers.
In the same year in which it began its operations, it also entered into the export market, Colombia being its first destination.

1998 - 1999
Its growth intention allowed it to expand into the Venezuelan market in 1998 and into Peru in 1999. Also in 1999, FEDEXPORT granted Zaimella del Ecuador a special honorable mention for its exports, merit in being a pioneer in the export of non-traditional products.
Starting in 1999 Zaimella addressed and improved the distribution in the traditional market by means of a new model of direct distribution: the Pototín Franchise, specialized points of retail that sell and distribute products manufactured by Zaimella.

2000 - 2001
Sales growth allowed for the second production line of baby diapers to begin its operations.
With a vision of the future and an eagerness to increase market presence, in 2001 Zaimella finalized the purchase of an important competitor: Sanitex, the first manufacturer of disposable diapers and sanitary napkins in Ecuador. This purchase came into fruition with the acquisition of the company's productive assets and brands: Pompis, Prudential and Maternity, 2 lines of absorbent products and other operating assets.
Also in 2001 exports to the Bolivian market commenced.

2002 - 2003
Zaimella purchased the machinery to manufacture adult diapers as well as incontinence products.
With more than 40 Pototín Franchise, the business model was changed to that of micro-franchises. Subsequently, the most important stores in each area were franchised.

2004 - 2005
The innovative spirit of its management fostered the company's expansion into new projects. In 2004 Zaimella purchased the machinery to produce moist wipes, thus expanding its product range. In this same year, it invested in the acquisition of 100% of the stock of the company Nutrexpa, owner of the brand Para mi Bebé, a line of children cosmetic products with over 25 years of experience and a strong participation in the Ecuadorian market.
By the end of 2005, the company certified its processes through SGS with the qualification ISO 9001 – 2000.

2006
The development of new products did not cease, and by 2006 Zaimella launched into the market a diaper with 12 hours of absorption and a magical clasp for perfect adjustment: Panolini Plus. Para Mi Bebé, the line of children cosmetic products, was re-launched with a more modern image and a full renovation of the image of its containers and labels as well as formula improvements. Also, a new product was introduced into the market: POMPIFRESH, a wet toilet paper. In February 2006, the Presidency of the Republic recognized the Pototín Franchise for being pioneers in the promotion and development of the Ecuadorian franchise. By the end of this year, there were more than 85 franchised stores servicing more than 60 towns in 20 provinces of Ecuador. By the end of 2006, Zaimella purchased 20.56 acres for the new headquarters of Zaimella's industrial plant in the area of Amaguaña, in the valley of Los Chillos, South of Quito.
In the financial arena, Zaimella made its first incursion into the capitals market of Ecuador by successfully issuing for the first time unsecured bonds for an amount of US$3,000,000.00 with a term of 3 years, for which it obtained an “AA” risk rating.

2007
The construction of the new industrial plant, including offices, a dining hall, dressing rooms, and warehouses began in June of 2007. In October, a new production line for the manufacturing of baby diapers was purchased. This addition allowed Zaimella to meet the sales increase in the last trimester of 2007 and consequently to reach its projected growth for subsequent years.
Exports to the Central American market were consolidated in countries such as: Panama, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Costa Rica, etc.

2008
The construction of the new industrial plant was finished, and the distribution center was relocated in the new facilities. Logistic processes were modernized and the storage of products was centralized. Zaimella accessed the capital market for the second time, issuing unsecured bonds for an amount of US$4,000,000.00 with a term of 4 years. At this time it obtained an “AAA” risk rating, not only for this new issue, but also for the previous one that was still outstanding at the time.
